Casework

Are you facing a crisis, either financial or emotional? Families who encounter crisis and then find themselves overwhelmed are often unable to deal effectively with their problems.

Services to New-Comers to Our Community

Are you new in the Community? JSS provides you with up-to-date information about the Jewish and general community. JSS has a long history in the resettlement and integration of immigrants from all over the world. Jewish Social Services is satellite agency of the Jewish Immigration Aid Society (JIAS).

Adult Programs

Do you want to meet people? JSS offers a wide range of adult social and educational programs. Come out and meet new friends and spend time with old friends.

Theatre club: The JSS Theatre Club offers the latest Broadway Shows. Trips are scheduled on a regular basis and include a full day’s outing.

Choir: The JSS Chai Choir practices every Tuesday morning. The choir performs throughout the community on a regular basis and is always looking for new members.

Luncheons: Include tasty food, entertainment, and celebration of Jewish holidays.

Yiddish Club: Come out to our monthly meetings, have a brunch, speak a little Yiddish, enjoy the nostalgia, and have lots of fun.

Bingo: Come to JSS to meet friends, play Bingo for prizes, and have refreshments, a most pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Computer Courses: Do you want to learn how to use the computer? JSS has volunteers to help you on a regular basis.

Adult Day Program
JSS has a day program that combines productivity with learning and companionship. Activities include a workshop that meets four days a week, English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) classes, and Literacy. This program is especially geared to new senior immigrants. JSS staff can speak in Russian, and Yiddish.

Helping the Isolated and Sick
Are you lonely? Are you homebound? Jewish Social Services visit people in the hospitals and nursing homes. JSS provides telephone calls to keep people connected to the community.

Fighting Hunger
The Kosher Food Bank helps families and individual survive their financial problems – both long and short-term. JSS enables families to eat kosher food and remain a part of the community. The community’s commitment is that no one will go hungry!

Dealing with Aged Parents
Where can you turn to deal with problems associated with aging parents? JSS offers a wide range of services to help settle and accommodate parents in the most satisfactory living arrangement. We offer referral services, and help in finding domestic help.

Job Club
With these difficult economic times we have a job club that meets on a monthly basis, for networking, socializing, and learning skills to look for employment.
